Meet Madi, a BGFK student success story.
What began as an introduction to golf in kindergarten became something extraordinary. From elementary school to competitive golf, college, and coaching the next generation, Madi's journey reflects the lasting impact of Better Golf for Kids Academy.
Madi joined BGFK as a kindergartener at Antioch Elementary, discovering a love for golf through Coach Daniel's encouragement, creative lessons, and genuine passion for teaching.
Building on those early fundamentals, Madi went on to compete for Weddington Middle School and Weddington High School, developing her skills and confidence along the way.
Today, Madi plays club golf at UNC Wilmington and coaches young golfers at First Tee of Greater Wilmington, sharing the same lessons that shaped her journey.
Madi first met Coach Daniel as a kindergartener at Antioch Elementary School. What started as a fun after-school activity quickly became a passion that would stay with her for years.
Through creative lessons, encouragement, and plenty of laughter, Daniel helped Madi develop more than her golf swing. He helped build the confidence, perseverance, and character that would carry her through school and beyond.
Years later, Madi returned to BGFK, this time standing alongside Coach Daniel as a fellow instructor.
The little girl who once learned from Coach Daniel was now helping him inspire the next generation of young golfers.

Coach Daniel,
It is hard to put into words how much you have meant to me since I first started working with you in kindergarten.
When I first started taking lessons from you, I was simply a young kid learning the game of golf. I never could have imagined that all these years later, I would have the opportunity to teach lessons alongside the person who taught me so much.
You have been so much more than a golf coach to me.
Of course, you taught me how to swing a golf club, how to practice with a purpose, and how to become a better player, but the things I have learned from you go far beyond golf.
You taught me patience, discipline, confidence, and how important it is to keep working when things are not going the way you want them to. Those lessons have stayed with me both on and off the course.
There is something incredibly special about going from being the kid taking lessons from you to having the opportunity to stand beside you and help teach the game to others.
I find myself using things you taught me years ago and trying to pass them along to the next golfer. I hope that I can have even a fraction of the positive impact on someone else that you have had on me.
Thank you for everything you have done for me and for continuing to be such an important person in my life. I hope you know how much I appreciate you and how much your mentorship has meant to me.
With gratitude,
Madi
